British Officer from Duke of Edinburgh’s Royal Regiment Briefing Platoon in Sebatik Island of Tawau, North Borneo

The confrontation or Konfrontasi that occurred in 1962-1966 was an undeclared war with most of the action in the border area between Indonesia and East Malaysia on the island of Borneo (known as Kalimantan in Indonesia).

One of the main battle frontiers was in Tawau, North Borneo.

The photo above shows a British Officer – Major James W. Loe, Duke of Edinburgh’s Royal Regiment of Havant, Hants, briefing one of his platoons for a sortie into the jungle to fight againts Indonesian guerrilla troops.
